Attorney Kathleen (“Katie”) Cusack represents clients in a variety of litigation, international trade, and administrative law matters. Katie is admitted to practice in North Carolina, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
Katie has represented clients across several industries, including energy, steel manufacturing, agriculture, government contracting, and finance. Katie prides herself on being an advocate for her clients, both in and out of court. She has helped to achieve favorable outcomes for clients in state and federal courts, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.
She also has considerable experience helping clients navigate federal regulations regarding international business and trade. In particular, Katie has represented clients in unfair trade investigations, government reviews of foreign acquisitions of U.S. business, customs matters, sanctions matters, lobbying and foreign agent registration requirements, and helped clients navigate emerging and shifting tariff structures.
Katie received her bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Rochester and juris doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Katie served as Editor in Chief of the North Carolina Journal of International Law, represented clients in UNC’s Intellectual Property Clinic, represented clients through various pro bono projects, served as the Fundraising Chair for the Veterans Advocacy Legal Organization, and was a proud member and mentor within UNC’s Women in Law.
While Katie is relatively new to the Wilmington area, her family has called the area home for years. The area holds special significance as well because it is where Katie and her husband first met and, ultimately, were married. When not working, Katie enjoys spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors with her dogs, and painting.
